An actuator moves the spindle of the variable nozzle — modulating motive steam to hold the discharge pressure on setpoint as the load changes.

The steam loop
Where your steam goes, and returns
Today: flash steam goes up the vent

Spend once.
Fuel raises steam in the boiler. You pay for every kilogram, and the process takes its heat.

Then it goes up the vent.
Hot condensate drops in pressure and part of it flashes into steam. That low-pressure flash steam still carries heat you paid for, and it is lost through the vent.

A variable-nozzle Jetomat draws the flash steam in and recompresses it with high-pressure motive steam, so you reuse energy you are paying for today — and vent less of it.

At UPL, Bharuch, a variable-nozzle Jetomat recovers 422 kg/h of waste flash steam to generate 3.5 bar steam. CII featured UPL’s project at the CII Energy Awards 2019.
